A Polish Film Institute (PISF) crew has visited our house with a camera to make a film about Chimney’s involvement in the restoration of old Polish cinema classics, and to show how we work on digital reconstruction. It is worth reminding that in 2011 The Chimney Pot received The Institute’s Award in the category of “Digital reconstruction of Polish cinematography’s masterpieces” during the 36th Polish Film Festival in Gdynia. More creativity and animation from The Chimney Pot
2012-01-19

From the very start to 2012, Jerzy Kępiński and Mateusz Masłowski join The Chimney Pot team as Creative Directors, enlarging our portfolio. Kępiński and Masłowski will be responsible for TCP’s creative product and client support (animation direction, creative supervision). The team, known as Jerz von Matt (JvM), has been operating in the advertising industry since 2003 – first as creatives for S&F Warszawa / Berlin, Touchpoint/DDB, Grey, Y&R, and later as creative directors at Ogilvy Interactive and Wunderman/Y&R. JvM’s first collaboration with TCP was a production for the National Stadium and a commercial “Serce I Rozum” for TP S.A. Meanwhile, 3D animation team The Bug (headed by Adam Torczyński), which was incorporated into TCP structure last year, moved to Syta 68A as of January 2012. Together with Chimney’s own graphics department, they form one cohesive organism, working under one roof and offering clients a full spectrum of computer animation services.

Special production for ING Bank Śląski
2012-01-16

Do you remember the feature “Baby są jakieś inne”, the way it was filmed, and the number of special effects we created for it? Here we had been asked to do a similar job, but this time for a series of commercials for ING Bank Śląski. The spots are a collaboration by Brain agency, Banana Split production house and The Chimney Pot. Naturally, we handled the whole post production process which in this instance played the main role as it required our involvement right from the very start of this production. Here is how it worked. The passenger carriage was in a studio, surround by greenbox. Scenes with passengers were filmed in this set up. The backgrounds – scenery seen through the train’s windows – were filmed separately. Then, our Chimney specialists performed compositing of the highest level – placing the backgrounds into the train’s windows, removing tracking points, adding reflections in windows, adjusting colours and making all those tricks look real. Go to our Portfolio to see the results!

Beautiful series by Winiary
2012-01-09

We have done post production on a whole series of 30” and 15” commercials for our regular customer – the Winiary brand. The spots come from Legend Group agency and Graffiti Film production house. Top class artists were invited to work on them – Wojtek Smarzowski (director) and Piotr Sobociński Jr (DOP). The Chimney Pot handled comprehensive post production, and the result is a series of commercials which are very pleasant and nice to watch. Check them out in our Portfolio .

The festival’s opening gala was attended by, amongst others, Roman Polański, Jerzy Skolimowski, Andrzej Żuławski, Jacek Bromski and Agnieszka Odorowicz. The festival was kicked off by our digital reconstruction of “Niewinni czarodzieje” by Andrzej Wajda. After the screening, we heard a lot of positive comments about our work!

"Camouflage" after digital reconstruction
2011-12-13

On December 12, 2011, Warsaw’s Kultura cinema hosted the official premiere of yet another digitally reconstructed masterpiece. The 1976 classic, "Camouflage" (Barwy ochronne), received the digital treatment from out team who worked very closely with Krzysztof Zanussi and Jerzy Zieliński. The film’s director made a special appearance at the event telling the gathered audience about his ordeals with state censors as the film was made during the communist regime. The Chimney Pot was represented by Łukasz Rutkowski, the head of the reconstruction team, who said: “One of the biggest difficulties our team had to deal with was the removal of a thick scratch line which ran through one of the more significant shots. The scratch line was visible on the screen of one minute, but it took us two weeks to fix, the job being done manually, frame by frame.”

Video clip with Kasia Nosowska
2011-11-18

Nature 2000 is the European Union’s programme for the creation of a common system of regions where nature is protected. The initiative has received a boost with a new advertising campaign consisting of a video clip featuring Kasia Nosowska, 2x30” clips and 11 interactive films for the internet. Adverting agency and Blast Factor production house have both engaged in the campaign. We handled the post production. The video clip had been shot with a number of different cameras making it difficult to bring all the footage to one common format and to edit it aesthetically. There is not a single frame of 3D graphics in the entire clip. See the effects of our work for yourselves.

Morgenstern's last picture
2011-11-15

We have had yet another premiere of a digitally reconstructed film. This time, on November 14, the large audience at Warsaw’s Kultura cinema saw Janusz Morgenstern’s “Mniejsze niebo”. The director and his DOP, Ryszard Lenczewski, actively participated in the picture’s reconstruction, supervising the whole process and its final pre-release screening. As it later turned out, “Mniejsze niebo” was the last picture that the director had worked on. Popular “Kuba” died on September 8.

Apart from special effects, we also contributed 3D animation (by The Bug), complex DI and distribution copies.

Chimney for Onet.pl
2011-09-28

Our advertising portfolio has increased by a new spot for Onet.pl. The commercial is part of a wider campaign which communicates the introduction of a new visual identification system and Onet brand’s positioning. Chimney took part in most production stages of this project – from briefings to the shoot. Complex post production took more than three weeks. In that time, we worked on the re-creation of cameras and sets in 3D allowing full control over 3D projections inserted into the room. Those projections were then overimposed onto the real life footage. We take this opportunity to thank the director (Kuba  Łubniewski), the agency (Scholz&Friends) and Tank Production house’s production department for the very pleasant co-production and atmosphere!

We are very happy to report on our work on a very interesting project for Maspex, the manufacturer of Tiger energy drink. The job consisted of a series of commercials titled “Tiger – Power is Back”. The spots are a combination of real-life footage and Game Cinematic-styled animation. Each of them shows the story of a different hero who comes out on top of every seemingly dead-end situation thanks to Tiger. The dynamic animation job was done by The Bug, a team of animators who have been an integral part of Chimney for several months now. We handled full post production of the whole campaign, of course. Check out the fruits of our work in Portfolio .
